SOBRE ELISA

La pintura de Elisa Bermejo Velázquez es luz y color. Su temática ha ido variando conforme a los años.Sus primeras obras, “Escenas de Avilés”, reflejandestacadas arquitecturas de la ciudad donde actualmente vive y trabaja: columnas, pórticos, basílicas y también pone de relieve su carácter industrial incluyendo motivos de barcos que entran y salen del Puerto.En el verano del 2008, la artista viaja a Manhattan para recibir clases en la New York Studio School; es allí donde se gesta un cambio en la forma de percibir y pintar la realidad.A su vuelta comienza la serie “Bodegones” que desarrolla durante varios años de trabajo intenso. Sin ser consciente, un leitmotiv como el bodegón le lleva a ir más allá de sus propios límites, abriendo la puerta a composiciones abstractas que contienen gran energía y belleza.Muchas de sus pinturas parecen detener el tiempo haciéndolo eterno. Paisajes titulados “Anochecer en el bosque”, “Amanecer” o “Día soleado de verano”, son obras que muestran la inmensidad de la naturaleza sin floritura, pero sin dejar lugar a dudas de su potente plasticidad y siempre haciendo gala de una voz única y original.Elisa Bermejo Velázquez nace en el año 1980 en Avilés, donde actualmente vive y trabaja.

Elisa Bermejo Velázquez’s paintings are full of light and color and their subject has varied over the years.Her very firstworks, compiled under the heading “Scenes of Avilés”, portray the wonderful architecture of the town in which she presently lives and works: columns, façades, arcades and churches. She also highlights the industrial and maritime history of the town including motifs of ships that enter and leave the port.During the summer of 2008 the artist had the opportunity to travel to Manhattan, where she received painting classes at the acclaimed New York Studio School. Whilst there she developed a new way of perceiving and representing the world.Once she had returned to Spain, she began the series of still-life paintings, which she has developed during various years of intense work. Without being aware of it, such a leit-motif has stretched her beyond her previous limits and opened the door to her beautiful abstract compositions which are amazing for their energy and use of colour.Many of her paintings seem to stop time, making them eternal. Landscapes entitled “Dusk in the woods”, “Sunrise” or “Sunny day at the end of the summer” are paintings that reflectthe immensity of nature. Such paintings impress us because of their powerful composition which reflects author’s unique and original voiceElisa Bermejo Velázquez was born in the year1980 in Avilés where she presently lives.
